Let me introduce myself

I'm Joanna Shroyer, business owner at cabi and Findning Foxtale, hobby farm owner, want to be travel blogger, and homeschool mom.

I started out over six years ago with a women's and children's brand where I honed my fashion skills. I recently transitioned to cabi where I have fallen in love with the designer style and personal touch cabi allows me to offer my clients. I believe that fashion should be easy and make you feel great. I'm throw-and-go style at it's finest, and my goal is to help my clients achieve that "put together" look without all the fuss.

The brand new children's clothing line has launched, and I am offering wardrobe solutions to moms and girls alike. Finding Foxtale is steeped in history and culture; the story is one you will not want to miss.

In my personal life, I'm blessed enough to be married to the man of my dreams. Justin isn't perfect, but he's perfect for me. We have three busy children: Jayden (13). Jordyn (11), and Jaxson (9). Our hobby farm boasts horses, goats, chickens, and even a pig!

Justin and I routinely use these lines as comic relief when having kids is less than “fun.” 😬 What an absolute joy it is to use these lines when having kids is FUN!

We recently took the kids on a FUN trip to Southern California. There were theme parks, beaches, piers, iconic places, and even the zoo. We went from LA to Anaheim and ended up in San Diego. One darling discovered a love for roller coasters 🎢 (thank heavens), one cemented disdain for them 🙄, and one drew a hard line on which ones were rideable and which were not 🧐. You win some and you lose some. 😂

We’ve already lost our nomination for 2025 “parents of the year” by tricking them all onto Guardians of the Galaxy 🛗 (a parent personal favorite). 😬😂 I’d do it all over again for the looks on their faces. 😳

The dreams you have for yourself are completely possible. You have the ability to love yourself, to dress yourself with confidence, to disregard other people’s irrelevant opinions. Imagine looking at your reflection and loving what you see. Imagine putting aside your thoughts of what others think (or even what you KNOW they think) and not feeling weighed down by them. Sit in the joy and freedom that would come with that moment. Close your eyes and really FEEL what it would be like.

What are you willing do to do get there? Here’s the thing, my friend, you have to work on things that no one else can take away from you to get there. Work on the hard things like your mindset, character, personality, relationship with Christ, and your general well being.

This is why as house pets potbellied pigs can become destructive and hard to handle. They use those little piggy 🐷 brains to open cabinets, root up carpet, and more.

Pigs make upwards of 20 different vocalizations from low grunts to high pitched squeals; they have no problem to make their feelings known.

Why didn’t you tell me?

The easiest way to make hard boiled eggs 🥚 isn’t to boil them.
.
Steam them instead.
.
I recently saw this hack on social and knew I had to try it. I am often asked to make the stuffed eggs but have always struggled during the peeling process. Even when I used store bought eggs years ago it was hit or miss as to whether they would look pretty after peeling. I’ve now used the steaming method twice and color me impressed because the eggs 🥚 practically peel themselves! It’s a must use life hack 👏🏼

Add steamer basket to pot. Add water to fill the space between the basket bottom and pot. Bring to a boil. Cover. Steam for 13 minutes. Allow to cool enough to handle before peeling.

This girl is the best. She also drives me insane 🤣 Dobermans have big, intense personalities and tend to want things their way. Regardless of what you want. Her job is to guard and protect, and she takes it very seriously. She causes people to pause just at the sight of her. 😳 I like it that way 😉

The real point of this is to tell you about a product we use every day at our house - @spotonfence . We don’t have a fence that will keep a dog in 💁🏻‍♀️, so I knew we would need a long term solution to keep any dogs from roaming (a personal pet peeve). After some research, SpotOn was chosen. We’ve been using this collar/fence for almost five years and like it so much we got an additional collar when we added a second dog. What I love about this fence system is that it allowed us to lay out a custom area as the “fence” so the arena and livestock areas are dog free zones. When the dogs go outside, they know they have to wear the extra collars and will wait at the door to have them put on. There is nothing to bury and quick to set up. We have had a few issues with the collars over the years but customer service is helpful and quick.

Christmas 🎄 Traditions.

They are engrained in my soul.

One of our favorite traditions is visiting our very own hometown of Canton, MS during the Festival of Lights 💡 at Christmas time. It’s simple, wholesome, Christmas fun. We’ve been doing it for years - 17, but who’s counting 😉. Over the years the festival has grown but it has yet to get old. Beautiful lights, carnival rides, food trucks, music, characters, story time - there’s something for everyone. Visit the shops on the square, pop into @thedailyscoopicecream or the seasonal @eatstreetdough for a snack, and even see the big man himself 🎅🏼. The very best thing? There’s no charge to wander through the square and see the lights 👏🏼 Be sure to check out @cantontourism for a full schedule of events.

Some Tips:
There is parking along the square but also check the parking lot behind the Bank Plus and in front of the Madison County Courthouse. There are some food trucks but if you are looking for a sit down spot, take a short walk to our favorite @picantes_canton.ms . If you have the time, go east to Avondale Road for a massive blow up display 😍

Take the short drive to Canton. It might just be your new family tradition.

This time last week we were settling in at the @ritzcarltonbacarasb for a weekend of celebration and worship; the Lifesong conference is one of the highlights of our year. This was our fifth conference to attend, and I really thought they couldn’t get any better. I was wrong. This year we heard from people you might have heard of like @christinecaine , @scotthamilton84 , and @shaneandshane . We also listened to countless stories from people you wouldn’t know - those impacted by this amazing organization. Stories of redemption and restoration. Stories of hurt and fear. Kleenex is required. I always learn so much about myself during this weekend.

We really didn’t understand what we were getting involved with when we joined hands with @lifesongfororphans . I don’t know that I completely understand everything now. What I do know is if you are looking for a place to get involved where lives are being changed, this is the place.

The byproduct of the crows’ dislike of hawks? My chickens are left alone. We occasionally see a hawk hanging around but rarely do they stick around long. I’ll keep the crows. 🐦‍⬛

I don’t get to ride very often. These kids have taken over (as planned) these ponies; they ride or work them pretty much daily (weather permitting), so I don’t get much saddle time. The kids were recently gone for several days so I took it upon myself to work their ponies for them. Such hardship 🤣. The ponies weren’t exactly thrilled about it, but I had a great time. And sore legs 🦵

To get away ✈️
.
Started off strong in Philadelphia, PA and visited the Independence National Historical Park, US Mint, Reading Terminal, Museum of the American Revolution, Constitution Museum, and Elfreth’s Alley. It was my first time in Philly, and I left plenty undone for a return trip.
.
Then we hit the road 🚗 and saw beautiful New England in the fall 🍂.
.
Spent some time in Salem, MA 🧙🏼‍♀️- the weekend before Halloween 😳. But truly, a town packed with history and so much to see. We enjoyed the Peabody Essex Museum and other historical (and cinematic) sites around town.
.
Ended the trip in Boston 😍 for a Bruins 🐻 game. We managed to beat the Toronto 🍁 Leaves in over time 💪🏻.
